Become a Homeowner

At Habitat Waukesha our vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. We believe in the power of homeownership - owning a home is a way to provide and a family with strength, stability, and roots in the community.

We offer decent, affordable housing and use donated materials and volunteer labor whenever possible to build our homes to keep costs to a minimum. We then sell these homes to qualified applicants by providing zero-interest mortgages and affordable monthly mortgage payments, based on income.

Homeowner applications are now closed.

What does it take to become a Habitat homeowner?

We provide a hand up - not a handout. Habitat homes are not free.

There are five criteria that you must meet to be considered for a Habitat Home through Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County:

  1. You must have lived or worked in Waukesha County for 1+ year

  2. You must demonstrate a need for improved housing

  3. You must be unable to obtain a loan through conventional means

  4. You must fall within our qualifying income ranges*

  5. You must be willing to partner with Habitat Waukesha

If you meet these criteria and would like to apply to become a future home owner, you may join our homeowner applicant waiting list.

*Income ranges determined by HUD
